Erin Futrell has been a physical therapist since 2007 and a board-certified specialist in orthopaedic physical therapy since 2010. She has practiced clinically in Atlanta, Ga., and Boston, Mass. Her doctoral dissertation work regarded impact-reducing gait retraining methods for runners, and was conducted at The Spaulding National Running Center in Cambridge, Mass., under the mentorship of founding director Irene Davis, PT, PhD. Futrell is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. She has published and presented research regarding running gait retraining interventions. She continues to research clinical interventions related to running gait retraining and intrinsic foot muscle strengthening in running and non-running populations.
